  Trained peer mentors are UCR undergraduate and graduate students. As a mentee, you will be paired with someone who can help you:

  • Build a strong network of support
  • Navigate UCR and discover resources
  • Connect with clubs and organizations
  • Plug into events and cultural celebrations
  • Attain major-specific advice on professors, projects, and key opportunities
  • Hone your study and time management skills
  • Develop cultural awareness

  Eligible Mentees are undergraduate first year or transfer students. Transfers entering in winter quarter are eligible.

• Mentors

  The goal of this program is to support students throughout their college journey, and to provide a community network that includes students, staff, faculty, and alumni. If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of and if you have leadership and interpersonal skills, then this may be the opportunity for you!

   

  Mentor Expectations

  Mentors should be familiar with Native life on campus. This could include a familiarity with Native faculty or involvement in a Native student organization. I-Connect mentors should be familiar with campus resources. This includes knowledge about the ARC, Ethnic and Gender Programs, The Well, the R’Garden, the R’Pantry, and more. If accepted to the program, mentor training will include an overview of campus resources. Mentors should have a desire to help others.

   

  Mentor requirements

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Involvement with NASP
  • Must have attended UCR 1 year for traditional students or 2 quarters for transfer students.
