The Native American Student Association, Rupert Costo Endowment Chair, California Center for Native Nations, and Native American Student Programs presents the Annual Medicine Ways Conference:

Saturday, May 10, 2014
9am – 7pm
University of California, Riverside
900 University Avenue
Riverside CA, 92521

For over three decades, the annual Medicine Ways Conference has been hosted by the Native American Student Association and Native American Student Programs at the University of California, Riverside and has invited people from near and far to partake in this unique event.

This year’s theme is “Transformation of Native Women: Continuing Tradition In The Modern World.” By presenting broad, and specific, histories and accounts of native women in the United States, we hope to create further interest and inspiration for unearthing the roles of women in home communities and how they have, and continue, to change. We wish to start off with a general pan-Indian overview of roles of women in pre and early contact communities. From there we will travel into the present and see how women are maintaining and redefining tradition and community in modern society. We at the Native American Student Association want to emphasize that this conference promotes conversations addressing women’s roles by encouraging everyone to participate. We believe that by sharing our gendered experiences relating gender with each other we are able to strengthen the ties within, and for our communities.

Continental Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner will be provided. The Sherman Voices photo exhibit will be on display all day, and Birdsinging will take place in the evening. All Birdsingers and dancers welcome.
